Islands have a special relation to geothermal. As most of them are of volcanic origin, a high geothermal gradient can be expected. Thus geothermal enerrgy is the natural partner of an island energy supply: sustainable, independent of any weather conditions and always available. This is the setting for the first IGC Islands conference and showcase from May 15 to 16, 2019 in Terceira at the Azores Islands. The event is supported by Exergy as promoting Sponsor and EDA Renováveis as hosting partner.

The first day will offer a field trip to the power plant designed by Exergy. The second day, the conference will highlight the chances and challenges of geothermal utilization on islands. Among others the construction of the plant from the planning until the first electricity production is presented. The participation can be bnooked via Xing, actually with the Early Bird Registration.
